It automatically computes dependencies and figures out what things should occur to install packages. Slpkg makes it easier to maintain groups of machines without having to manually update. Slpkg works in accordance with the standards of the organization slackbuilds.org to builds packages. Also uses the Slackware linux instructions for installation, upgrading or removing packages. What makes slpkg to distinguish it from other tools; The user friendliness is its primary target as well as easy to understand and use, also use color to highlight packages and display warning messages, etc. Also you can install official packages of your favorite distribution directly from the official repositories of Slackware. Even you can check for the official updates and install them. Repositories ------------ Default available Repositories: - SBo - `Reposiory `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1} - Slack - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {3.3, 8.1, 9.0, 9.1, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 11.0, 12.0, 12.2, 13.0, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1, current} - Alien's - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {11.0, 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 13.0, 13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1, current} - Slacky - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {11.0, 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 13.0, 13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1} - Robby's - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {11.0, 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 13.0, 13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1} - Studioware - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {13.37, 14.0, 14.1} - Slackers - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86_64} Versions: {current} - Slackonly - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {14.1} - Alien's ktown - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {13.37, 14.0, 14.1, current} - Alien's multi - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86_64} Versions: {13.0, 13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1, current} - Slacke E17 and E18 - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64, arm} Versions: {14.1} - SalixOS - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {13.0, 13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14.1} - Slackel - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {current} - Restricted - `Repository `_ Arch: {x86, x86_64} Versions: {11.0, 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 13.0, 13.1, 13.37, 14.0, 14,1, current} * Choose default repositories you need to work from file '/etc/slpkg/slpkg.conf' default is 'slack' and 'sbo' repositories and read REPOSITORIES file for each of the particularities. If a repository is not in the above list, manage custom repositories with commands 'repo-add' and 'repo-remove'. Usage ----- Need to run '# slpkg update' for the first time to synchronize the list of packages, also every time you add a repository. To add or remove repositories must edit the file '/etc/slpkg/slpkg.conf'. Also it is good to update the list of packages by running the command '# slpkg update' before proceeding to any installation or upgrade a new package. Issues ------ Please report any bugs in `ISSUES `_ Testing ------- The majority of trials have been made in an environment Slackware x86_64 and x86 stable version 14.1. Is logical tests are always to be latest versions of the distribution. Slpkg are supported version 'current' but it is minimal tests have been done on this release. Features -------- - Build third party packages from source with all dependencies - Grabs packages from repositories in real time - Find and Download packages from repositories - Automatic tool build and install packages - Check if your distribution is up to date - Remove packages with all dependencies - Display the contents of the packages - Install-upgrade Slackware packages - Build and install all in a command - Checking for updated packages - List all installed packages - Support MD5SUM file check - Find installed package - Read SlackBuilds files - Τracking dependencies - Build log file - Sum build time It's a quick and easy way to manage your packages in `Slackware `_ to a command. Tutorial -------- .. image:: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dslackw/images/master/slpkg/screenshot-1.png :target: https://asciinema.org/a/16251 Installation ------------ Untar the archive and run install.sh script: .. code-block:: bash $ tar xvf slpkg-2.2.8.tar.gz $ cd slpkg-2.2.8 $ ./install.sh Using pip: .. code-block:: bash $ pip install slpkg --upgrade Upgrade ------- From version '2.1.4' you can update slpkg itself with '# slpkg update slpkg'. In each slpkg upgrade should track the configuration files in the file '/etc/slpkg' for new updates. Slackware Current ----------------- For Slackware 'current' users must change the variable VERSION in '/etc/slpkg.conf' file. .. code-block:: bash $ slpkg -g --config=nano Slackware Mirrors ----------------- Slpkg uses the central mirror "http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/" to find the nearest one. If however for some reason this troublesome please edit the file in '/etc/slpkg/slackware-mirrors'. Configuration files ------------------- .. code-block:: bash /etc/slpkg/slpkg.conf General configuration of slpkg /etc/slpkg/blacklist List of packages to skip /etc/slpkg/slackware-mirrors List of Slackware Mirrors /etc/slpkg/custom-repositories List of custom repositories Command Line Tool Usage ----------------------- .. code-block:: bash Slpkg is a user-friendly package manager for Slackware installations Commands: update update all package lists upgrade upgrade all package lists repo-add [repository name] [URL] add custom repository repo-remove [repository] remove custom repository repo-list list all repositories repo-info [repository] repository information update slpkg check and update slpkg Optional arguments: -h, --help show this help message and exit -v, --version print version and exit -a, [script.tar.gz] [source...] auto build SBo packages -b, --list, [package...] --add, --remove add, remove packages in blacklist -q, --list, [package...] --add, --remove add, remove SBo packages in queue -q, --build, --install, --build-install build, install packages from queue -g, --config, --config=[editor] configuration file management -l, [repository], --index, --installed list of repositories packages -c, [repository] --upgrade check for updated packages -s, [repository] [package...] download, build & install packages -t, [repository] [package] package tracking dependencies -p, [repository] [package], --color=[] print package description -n, [package] view SBo site package in terminal -f, [package...] find installed packages -i, [package...] install binary packages -u, [package...] upgrade binary packages -o, [package...] reinstall binary packages -r, [package...] remove binary packages -d, [package...] display the contents Slpkg Examples -------------- If you use slpkg for the first time will have to create and update the package list.
