geninitrd: also accept /opt/sbin/geninitrd as an override.
Suggested by regdub.
Since the installer sends different args to the setup scripts, we can't use
$1 as the kernel file with setup.01.mkinitrd, so convert it into a variable
in geninitrd instead (if needed).
mkinitrd_command_generator.sh: pvdisplay will complain if there are any file
descriptors besides stdin, stdout, and stderr, which will always be true when
called from a package install script due to file locking. So send stderr from
the two calls to pvdisplay to /dev/null.

Hey folks, here's that graphics stack upgrade that you've been waiting for!
After looking at what drivers are currently shipped by other projects, I took
an axe to the driver list. Some of the removed drivers will still compile even
though they are abandoned, and some of the others are still getting git commits
(which allows *some* of them to compile). The removed stuff mostly looks
obsolete to me (we really can't support ancient hardware forever). But if you
think I've gone too far with any of these removals, please make or contribute
to a thread about it on LQ and I'll take any comments there into consideration.

Perhaps upstream didn't mean to move these files (or perhaps we should have
recompiled everything that looks for these), but they did switch to meson,
and the 'xkb-base' option to set the data directory doesn't work. Anyway,
I've placed a symlink at /etc/X11/xkb and that fixes the problem.
Thanks to Petri Kaukasoina and LuckyCyborg.
The --enable-systemd-logind change to xorg-server that caused resume from
suspend regressions (and others) has been reverted, and in retrospect it was
a bad idea to take it at that point, but it had appeared as if it wouldn't
cause problems in the case where Xorg was running as root. Oh well, lesson
learned. But the build script has been enhanced to make it easy to build
rootless versions of the xorg-server packages. Just do this:
ROOTLESSX=YES ./x11.SlackBuild xserver xorg-server
Depending on your GPU, this could work for your use case with no problems.
Also, I've gone ahead and taken a couple of shared library version bumps since
the projects (opencv and poppler) have decent track records as far as not
introducing regressions, and if there are any, we've got time to test and fix.
I'm still avoiding some things that aren't as trusted in that regard, and will
likely continue to do so. :-)

x/xorg-server-1.20.14-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
Built using --enable-systemd-logind to use elogind for device setup.
Some code changes would be required in xorg-server, xinit, and various login
managers to make rootless X work out of the box or to fall back in cases
where elogind isn't supported, and those changes aren't appropriate here in
the RC stage, but you can try it without recompiling:
chmod 755 /usr/libexec/Xorg*

a/pkgtools-15.0-noarch-39.txz: Rebuilt.
upgradepkg: revert change where $ROOT/sbin/installpkg is called instead of
/sbin/installpkg. Conceptually, this seemed like a nice change (but would
have also required removepkg to be called the same way), but it seems to
break an established expectation that the pkgtools can be used without them
actually being installed in $ROOT. Thanks to alienBOB.

Use #!/bin/bash for these scripts so that bashisms don't cause script issues

Greetings! After three months in /testing, the PAM merge into the main tree
is now complete. When updating, be sure to install the new pam, cracklib, and
libpwquality packages or you may find yourself locked out of your machine.
Otherwise, these changes should be completely transparent and you shouldn't
notice any obvious operational differences. Be careful if you make any changes
in /etc/pam.d/ - leaving an extra console logged in while testing PAM config
changes is a recommended standard procedure. Thanks again to Robby Workman,
Vincent Batts, Phantom X, and ivandi for help implementing this. It's not
done yet and there will be more fine-tuning of the config files, but now we
can move on to build some other updates. Enjoy!

In addition, the 0.9.3 release benefited from a security audit sponsored
by the Mozilla Open Source Support program. The audit results were used
to improve the overall security and code quality of libssh.

Fix glamor so that the return value from glamor_fds_from_pixmap matches
what's expected (thanks to Darth Vader for pointing out these patches).
Autobind secondary GPUs to the master as output sink / offload source. This
seems like a beneficial patch until/unless DEs start to handle this.
For nvidia cards, if they are GeForce 8 or newer use the modesetting driver
by default. Seems to be recommmended by upstream where they indicate that
fixes going into nouveau are primarily to target older cards for legacy
support and that the modesetting ddx is preferable for newer ones:

Slackware 14.2 x86_64 stable is released!
The long development cycle (the Linux community has lately been living in
"interesting times", as they say) is finally behind us, and we're proud to
announce the release of Slackware 14.2. The new release brings many updates
and modern tools, has switched from udev to eudev (no systemd), and adds
well over a hundred new packages to the system. Thanks to the team, the
upstream developers, the dedicated Slackware community, and everyone else
who pitched in to help make this release a reality.
The ISOs are off to be replicated, a 6 CD-ROM 32-bit set and a dual-sided
32-bit/64-bit x86/x86_64 DVD. Please consider supporting the Slackware
project by picking up a copy from store.slackware.com. We're taking
pre-orders now, and offer a discount if you sign up for a subscription.
Have fun! :-)

Slackware 14.0 x86_64 stable is released!
We're perfectionists here at Slackware, so this release has been a long
time a-brewing. But we think you'll agree that it was worth the wait.
Slackware 14.0 combines modern components, ease of use, and flexible
configuration... our "KISS" philosophy demands it.
The ISOs are off to be replicated, a 6 CD-ROM 32-bit set and a
dual-sided
32-bit/64-bit x86/x86_64 DVD. Please consider supporting the Slackware
project by picking up a copy from store.slackware.com. We're taking
pre-orders now, and offer a discount if you sign up for a subscription.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen. The Slackware team, the
upstream developers, and (of course) the awesome Slackware user
community.
Have fun! :-)
