VLC media player is a free and open source media player and multi- media framework written by the VideoLAN project. VLC is a portable multimedia player, encoder, and streamer supporting many audio and video codecs and file formats as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It is able to stream over networks and to transcode multimedia files and save them into various formats. This SB has the following dependencies, not included in default Slackware distribution but all available through slackbuilds.org: a52dec, faac, faad2, ffmpeg, lame, libass, libavc1394, libdc1394, libdca, libdvbpsi, libdvdcss, libdvdnav, libebml, libiconv, libmatroska, libmodplug, libmpeg2, libshout, libupnp, live555, lua, musepack-tools, portaudio, schroedinger, speex, twolame, vcdimager, x264.
