Functionally, this *should* be identical to the previous
version. Aesthetically, it's better, but of course, that's
just this guy's opinion, and we know how that goes... :-)

Note that this commit is actually broken due to VERSION
having a "-" in it. The next commit will fix that.

This field used to make sense in our pre-git days, but
the Signed-Off-By: line serves the same purpose (and
even more) now, so APPROVED has been rejected. ;-)
