If you start MATE Volume Control in Applications > Sounds & Videos, sometimes, you will
find this error message "no volume control gstreamer plugins and/or devices found".
You can fix this by running these steps:
- Go to System > Preferences > KDE System Settings > Multimedia
- Go to tab Phonon
- Click on Test button (make sure it gives you proper sound)
MATE Volume Control should be working now
